Suraksha focuses on educating and empowering disabled and disadvantaged girls in South Coastal India. Some of our projects involve:
1) Support Vocational Training and Speech Therapy programs in Srikakulam AP. Sponsor Speech Therapy Instructor and Audiology equipment to start the first Speech Therapy program in the district of Srikakulam, AP for hearing impaired children. Sponsor children with substantial hearing loss for Cochlear Implants. Suraksha also committed to provide scholarships for girls keen on higher education in Audiology and Special Education at National Institute of Hearing Handicapped (NIHH) in Hyderabad A
2) Supporting the deaf girl students at Shanti Ashram School, Visakhapatnam by providing specialized training to these girl students in the areas of tailoring/sewing, pottery, artificial flower making, Beautician (Mehendi/Henna) etc. and this enabling them to be gainfully employed upon graduation.
3) Sponsoring Math, Science and English teachers for some of the orphanages that shelter girls and are run by ICDS in Andhra Pradesh.
4) Fight Infant Malnutrition by holding medical and awareness camps for children in local slums in Visakhapatnam to analyze the current state of the children ( Vitamin/Iron/Protien Deficiencies and Height Weight Ratio disparities) and provide them with a continuous supply of required nourishment.
Currently “Suraksha” is based in the South Indian towns of Vizag and Srikakulam in AP and we hope to replicate our efforts in other towns and cities across India while collaborating with similar Non-Profits across the world.
